Safer Recruitment Summary 

Enhanced DBS check

We verify that every worker has an up-to-date Enhanced DBS certificate and where applicable, overseas police checks are obtained. This ensures they’ve passed the highest level of criminal background screening for working with children.

Right to Work verification

We confirm each worker’s legal eligibility to work in the UK.  This protects providers from compliance risks and ensures lawful employment.

ID and address confirmation

We cross-check government-issued ID and proof of address. This guarantees the worker’s identity and traceability. 

Full work history review

We collect and review a complete employment history. This helps us identify gaps, patterns, and relevant experience.

Two professional references (covering at least 5 years) 

We require references from previous employers or managers. This provides insight into the worker’s reliability, conduct, and suitability.

Qualifications reviewed against the Department for Education Checklist

We validate relevant childcare qualifications. This ensures workers meet the standards required for their roles. 

Online interview with our recruitment team

Every worker completes a structured interview via video call.  This allows us to assess communication, professionalism, and intent. 

Safeguarding training and assessment

Every worker completes accredited safeguarding training and must achieve a minimum score in the final assessment. 
This ensures they understand how to protect children, recognise signs of harm, and respond appropriately.

Yes — that’s the whole point. youchoosework gives you full control to browse vetted profiles and invite the people who best fit your setting. No random assignments, no surprises.
No. We’re a platform that connects childcare providers directly with vetted flexible workers. It’s faster, more transparent, and more affordable than traditional agencies.

youchoosework will email the setting an invoice on the Monday after the completed shift, this is to be paid within 48 hours. 

We’re currently rolling out across Greater Manchester, with plans to expand nationally soon. If you’re outside the area, you can still register your interest on the form below and we’ll let you know when we launch near you.
